About Me

In 1975, I was a young mom, a bit of a hippie, and always on the lookout for alternative thought.  I came across a book called Death by Sugar by H. M. Goltz. It changed my life because since that time I have been very aware of the consequences of the foods we consume.

I have been (mostly) vegetarian since that time — even when people back then told me that I was neglecting my son by not feeding him meat, I stuck with it.  I don’t think that meat really has much to do with the obesity epidemic of today, or that it is particulary bad for us (unless processed of course).

I choose to refrain from eating  meat because I believe that all life has the right to that life.  I do believe that it has allowed me to keep off excess weight throughout my life, and is possibly the reason I look young for my age, but I am only guessing.

Recently, I have gained weight — 20 pounds in six months to be exact.  I started to become very concerned (not to mention despondent) because I find I have a voracious appetite too.  I had to find out what was happening to me that these changes were happening.

At the same time, I was experiencing some distress because of some unresolved family problems and wasn’t sleeping soundly anymore. I was having anxiety and was startled awake by every little sound or tiniest ray of light.

I just happened on Jorge Cruise’s book, The Bellyfat Cure, while browsing through a bookstore. It really made sense to me.  Even at 110 pounds, I had a bit of belly and I wasn’t a slouch. I did about 600 stairs each day of work, and started my day with 100 sit ups.  I could never lose the little belly though.  This recent 20 pounds of weight gain has almost completely packed onto my belly and I know that having a belly is the one indicator of heart disease, strokes, and diabetes, not to mention many other smaller afflictions.  I started to panic.

A visit to my doctor confirmed that lack of restful, sound sleep is one of the causes of weight gain. It seems that if you are not sleeping well, the hormone Leptin that regulates appetite, can get way out of whack and the consequence is weight gain.

His prescription was for me to find a way to get 8 solid hours of sleep per night. Easier said than done, but now that I know the seriousness of it, I am trying really hard to turn this around.

Then, back to Jorge Cruise. I found his videos on Youtube. And I’m not the kind of person who jumps on bandwagons. I’m not a dieter and never have been. When I saw him interviewing Dr. Oz, I knew he and his information was legitimate.

I’ve been researching belly fat ever since, and I believe that there is a conspiracy in the food industry to get us addicted to certain foods that turn off our built in hormones that normally tell us we don’t need anymore food.  Stay tuned for more on this, and if you really want to be enlightened, watch this video:  CLICK HERE

Belly Fat Central is my way of getting this information out there.
